Nearly 100 benefited from India co-operation programmes last year

Nearly 100 Guyanese  benefited from programmes under the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC) last year.

This was disclosed at an interaction on Friday organized by the High Commission of India in Guyana along with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC).

A release from the SVCC said that the programmes included customised ITEC courses for Guyanese partner institutions. In his remarks at the SVCC, High Commissioner Dr Amit Telang underlined India’s commitment to continue to work closely with the Guyanese Government in fulfilling the developmental aspirations of Guyana as the country  “is on the cusp of a phenomenal developmental transformation”.

A release from the Ministry of Finance said that in his address, Finance Minister  Dr  Ashni Singh commended ITEC on their 60th anniversary and underlined  the importance of the programme, in particular its provision of technical training opportunities to Guyanese. He said that to date, over 800 persons have been trained under the programme.
