Send the gov’t back to school

Dear Editor,

Under the Petroleum Agreement,  Guyana is entitled to a royalty of 2% on oil production.

Guyana is also entitled to 50% of 25% of oil production which is 12.5% of production.

12.5% + 2% = 14.5% of production.

The ongoing shambles and muddled explanations of Guyana’s oil revenue indicate that the government has some difficulty with percentages and fractions. This could cost (is costing?) Guyana billions of dollars.

We need to double the salaries of maths teachers and send the government back to school immediately.

Yours truly,

Melinda Janki
