Dear Editor,
Please allow me to thank Mr S. Harald, former bodyguard to President Jagan, for his touching letter in the Stabroek News yesterday. He captured the essence of Dr Jagan beautifully: a man of simplicity who cared deeply for his fellow human beings.
Dr Jagan spent a week with me and my late wife, Lily, in Geneva and he was indeed such a simple and caring person. For breakfast he had corn flakes and cold milk.
And he used press-cuttings to great advantage for research and writing.
I have handwritten correspondence from him written at a time when envelopes were in short supply in Guyana!
