Region Two RDC celebrate Holi

The Region Two Administration on Friday celebrated Phagwah with staff members. The programme featured poems, singing and greetings.

Region Two Chairperson Vilma De Silva said that Guyana is a multicultural country and Guyanese join in all celebrations as a diverse nation.

De Silva said that the festival of colours signifies love and unity. She added that President Irfaan Ali in promoting “One Guyana” is involving all and such festivals promote the same. She used the opportunity to wish all Guyanese a Happy Holi.

The audience at the programme

Sharing the significance of Holi was Dr Ranjeev Singh. He said that the festival of colours is about good triumphing over evil. He said that the good will always triumph over evil as it did on the night of Holi.

The staff members were involved in exchanging colours and smearing each other’s faces with powder.

Attending the Phagwah programme were Regional Executive Officer Susanah Saywack, Regional Vice Chairman Humace Oodit and programme heads of the Regional Democratic Council.
