President hosts dinner for Clinton, French Foreign Minister

President Irfaan Ali hosted dinner for former US President Bill Clinton, the French Minister of the European Union and Foreign Affairs, Stėphane Sėjournė and a delegation from the Dominican Republic at State House last evening.

According to the Guyanese Head of State, these visits are timely and target the country’s economic development and growth, a release from the Office of the President said.

He said that former President Clinton has been a friend of Guyana, championing the rights of biodiversity and forest conservation in the face of climate change.

Clinton is currently in Guyana as the special guest of the Dominican Republic’s Chamber of Commerce Caribbean Forum, which starts today.

Meanwhile, President Ali noted that the Dominican Republic’s choice of hosting the forum here fortifies the relationship between the two countries and their private sectors.

Prime Minister Mark Phillips; Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo; other Government Ministers; private sector leaders, US Ambassador Nicole Theriot, EU Ambassador Rene van Nes and British High Commissioner Jane Miller were also at the dinner, the release said.
