FIDA Master Anthony Drayton and Ricardo Narine emerged as champions in the Open and Juniors categories, respectively, when the April Open Rapid Chess Championship concluded on Monday evening at the Catholic Life Centre, Brickdam. This was confirmed by a release from the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF). According to the correspondence, Drayton finished ahead of Damian Moulder and Gilbert Williams, who rounded out the top three in that order.
On the other hand, Narine relegated Kishan Puran and Sachin Pitamber to second and third place, respectively, to clinch the top spot.
Finishing in fourth and fifth place were Kyle Couchman and Alexander Zhang, respectively.
Meanwhile, Aditi Joshi copped the Best Female award, while the Best Newcomer accolade was won by Tendi Cameron.
