Cromarty Farm man perishes in accident

The Police say they are investigating a fatal incident which occurred today at 5.45 am on # 36 Public Road Corentyne Berbice, involving motor car # PGG 3721 owned by Deborah Campbell of Lot 194 Gibraltar Corentyne, Berbice and driven by Troy Trevor Elias (now deceased) age 38, of Lot 4 Cromarty Farm, Corentyne, Berbice and passenger Mark Anderson, age 34 of Lot 124 Mibicuri, South Black Bush Polder Corentyne, Berbice.

 

Inital investigations revealed that  # PGG 3721 was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane on the mentioned road with the occupant seated in the front passenger seat allegedly at a fast rate of speed, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a utility pole on the eastern side of the road. As a result, the said vehicle spun several times and subsequently came to a halt.

 

The driver and occupant were eventually taken out of the vehicle with the driver being in an unconscious condition and the occupant in a semi conscious condition.They were placed into a police motor pickup by public-spirited citizens and taken to Skeldon Public Hospital, where they were both examined by the Doctor on duty, who pronounced the driver dead on arrival.

 

The passenger is presently receiving medical attention for lacerations about his body. His condition is regarded as stable.

 

The body of the driver is presently lying at the said hospital mortuary, awaiting post mortem examination.

 

Investigtions are continuing.
