A horrifying accident on Water Street yesterday afternoon claimed the life of a 62-year-old security guard who was crushed to death by a truck as she stood on the road conversing with someone in a parked vehicle.
Dead is National Hardware guard Doreen Fox-Haynes of 2454 Section C, Block ‘X’, Great Diamond.
According to video footage seen by this newspaper, Fox-Haynes was conversing with someone inside a green pickup, GAD 3272, which was double parked in the vicnity of National Hardware on Water Street and as a truck approached, she braced herself to the vehicle. After the truck passed, Fox-Haynes was seen falling on the road.
According to an employee of National Hardware, at 12:35 pm yesterday, Fox-Haynes was standing outside of National Hardware speaking to a friend, when the truck braced her and moved her a few inches before she fell. She sustained injuries to the right side of her body.
