Stephan Hope, a 31-year-old security officer of Haslington, East Coast Demerara has been charged with the murder of Ashanti Liverpool.
Hope appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison.
According to police, on March 19th at about 12:20 hours, Hope fatally shot Liverpool, a 24-year-old security officer. He then shot himself and was hospitalized for some time. He had once shared a common-law relationship with Liverpool’s twin sister.
Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn, had told Stabroek News that he requested that all firearms be taken from OP Security Service following the fatal shooting that occurred in Dazzell, Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.
