The Government of Guyana, through the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Immigration Support Services, has welcomed 39 individuals from 13 countries as Guyanese citizens.

A release yesterday from the Ministry of Home Affairs said that two ceremonies, held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, and Wednesday, April 17, 2024, marked the occasion as these individuals received their registration and naturalisation certificates of Guyanese citizenship.

Robeson Benn, Minister of Home Affairs; Andre Ally, Permanent Secretary; Michelle Davis, Head of Immigration Support Services; and Stephen Telford, Deputy Chief Immigration Officer, were among those in attendance.

The release said that  Benn emphasised Guyana’s rich multicultural identity, underscoring the importance of embracing diversity and leveraging each other’s strengths for national prosperity.

He urged the new citizens to take advantage of all the opportunities available in Guyana.

Ally reminded the new citizens of their responsibility to uphold the nation’s laws in all their endeavours, emphasising the importance of integration and adherence to the country’s laws.

The release did not name the 13 countries.
