Double murder in Trinidad

(Trinidad Express) A brother of Shumba James – the man who was the main witness for the State in the murder trial against six police officers – was gunned down along with another man yesterday afternoon.

Oba Gill James and his employee, Brandon Seenath, 33, were killed in their home community of St Mary’s in Moruga.

Police said that Oba Gill James had been previously charged with possession of cocaine for trafficking.

Shumba was a witness for the prosecution to testify against the officers who are charged with the murders of Abigail Johnson, 23; Alana Duncan, 28; and Kerron “Fingers” Eccles, 26, on the night of July 22, 2011, on Rochard Douglas Road.

In November, after almost 13 years on remand and a trial, the six police officers were freed.

Oba and Seenath were killed at around 5.30 p.m.
