E-Net’s Vishok Persaud (car in front) and Mark Vieira (second car) had the spectators on their feet across the three Group 4 races on Sunday.

Safely strapped into his trustworthy KTM X-Bow, Vishok Persaud picked up where he left off from last season by turning in stellar performances in Group Four (highest category) races of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) Circuit Racing Series on Sunday at the South Dakota Circuit.

While Persaud came under pressure from Mark Vieira in the Group 4 races, the latter showed remarkable conditioning, hopping over into GMR&SC President, Mahendra Boodhoo’s Lotus to participate and excel in Group 3 races.

Mark Vieira piloted the Lotus Exige to victory in Group 3 after doing battle in Group 4.

White it is yet to be made official, Vieira blazed around the circuit in the Group 3 races setting a best lap time of 1 min 21.033 seconds to rewrite the previous record of 1 min 25.100 seconds which was set by Danny Persaud in 2022.

Persaud held his own to collect a win in the second Group Three race while he finished second in the third Group 3 event.

Likewise, Matthew Vieira, the son of Mark, was dominant in the Superstock Bike Races, winning both races in the face of stiff competition from Kevin Persaud.

Meanwhile, Superstock (B) had two races, both won by Heeranand Boodram with Adrian Mohar the top performer in the Street Class Bike races.

Matthew Vieira was dominant in the Super Stock (A) bike races, winning two out of two races on Sunday at the South Dakota Circuit.

Shan Seejattan was also clinical in his driving, making his way to two wins out of three Group Two races with Chet Singh winning the other.

While the day was full of entertainment, there was also a four-car crash in a Group 2 race early in the day, however, the drivers involved escaped unharmed with the cars bearing the brunt of the accident.

Next up on the GMR&SC’s calendar of events will be the second drag racing meet slated for May 18 while Circuit Racing Day 2 is scheduled for June 30.
