Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Berbice Championship

Trafalgar, East Bank Gunners, Big Ballers, and East Bank Young Guns clinched berths to the semifinal round following wins in the quarterfinal and round of 16 segments respectively when the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Berbice Championship commenced on Friday night.

Staged at the New Amsterdam (NA) basketball court in front of a large audience, two- times champion, Trafalgar sent a strong message to the remaining participants with a 4-0 thrashing of Hopetown.

The combination of N. Bobb and Teon Mackenzie recorded respective doubles in the lopsided contest.

Similarly, Big Ballers downed Paradise 4-2. Doubles from the combination of Evon Smith and Demario Gabriel sealed the outcome. For the loser, Deon Moriah amassed a brace.

Meanwhile, East Bank Gunners edged Ballers United 1-0 on penalty kicks following a scoreless regulation time interval.

On the other hand, the East Bank Young Guns riddled the Street Warriors by a 2-0 score. The duo of Sherwin Charles and Jaden Thom recorded one goal apiece.

The eventual victor of the event will seal an automatic berth to the national championship in August. In excess of one million dollars in prizes will be awarded to the top four finishers.
