Is the holding of a party congress at a state building a blurring of lines?

Dear Editor,

In 2022, permission to host a national exhibition at a public building in honour of that year’s Independence Anniversary observances was belatedly withdrawn to the organisers (KN May 24 2022). The exhibition was being mounted and hosted by the organisation of one of the leaders involved in Independence talks, and who became our first prime minister. The reason(s) for the withdrawal was not clear.  Now today, a party congress, a private matter, is being held at a national, state building in which our national assembly meets.  Is there a blurring of lines here? This has been asked before by this writer: when will sittings of the national assembly return to and reconvene at Public Buildings?

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
