Trinidad: Four dead, 8 injured in Powder Magazine Attack

(Trinidad Express) Four people were killed and eight injured in a mass shooting at Powder Magazine in Cocorite on Saturday night.

Dead are 22-year-old Shaquille Ottley, Antonio Jack, 57, Sadiki Ottley, 31, and Johnathon Osmond, 36. Eight injured men, ages 19-39, have also been hospitalized and according to police, are in stable conditions.

The victims and deceased men were said to have been socializing on the eastern side of a building within the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) development at around 11.p.m. on Saturday when an unrecognized vehicle entered the premises.

After stopping at the entrance, two men dressed in dark clothing exited the car and began shooting at the group before hastily fleeing the scene in the vehicle, police said.

When first responders arrived at the scene, Osmond, 36, was seen lying unresponsive, his head facing north and covered in what appeared to be blood.

The injured victims and the three other men who were not yet deceased were taken to the St James Medical Hospital by civilians and emergency services. Shaquille Ottley and Antonio Jack were pronounced dead on arrival. Sadiki Ottley died at 12.25 am while undergoing emergency treatment.

Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene and found 17 spent 9mm shells, 25 7.62 spent shells and 2 live projectiles.

The Western Division Task Force and Homicide Region 1 are continuing investigations.
