On the heels of World Press Freedom Day, observed on Friday, May 3, the Netanyahu Government has voted to shut down the operations of the renowned Al Jazeera in Israel (SN May 5). Long a thorn in the side of the Netanyahu Government on its coverage of the Hamas-Israel war, this decision has to be seen as an affront to the free press and an independent media organization of international repute and must be condemned. Would those who raise their voices for less than this now stand and raise their voices with the Al Jazeera Israel fraternity?
