CANU serves notice over seized boat

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) has served notice to the public over the seizure of a go-fast boat on March 29th, 2024, warning that if it is not claimed within 30 days it is liable to be disposed of by the Minister in such manner as may be prescribed.

The notice was published in Saturday’s Guyana Chronicle and was dated April 2nd.

The boat had two 250 Yamaha outboard engines and was  found with 536 kg of cocaine aboard.

On April 2nd,  Jose Felix Lindore and Javier Perez appeared before Magistrate Alicia George at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court where they both pleaded not guilty to the offence of trafficking a narcotic, to wit 536 kilogrammes of cocaine.

Lindore and Perez were remanded to prison until 10th May 2024, a release from CANU said.
