‘Bare blows’

Dear Editor,

‘Bare blows’ (SN May 6) sounds like a cash grant distribution exercise for pensioners, but it was the monthly pensions and disability payments at post offices.

In the article two prominent locations were mentioned.  Were the blows encountered at all post offices? Whether it is one or all locations senior citizens should not have to endure this kind of treatment being meted out to them.

These payments are a monthly occurrence and it is high time the national entity charged with its execution get it right.

It was not a pretty picture to see the elderly, as depicted in the photograph, under the ‘Bare blows’ caption, huddled under the sole tent, as they sought cover from the elements.   The national entity can and must do better in treating our senior citizens and elderly with respect and dignity.

Yours,

Shamshun Mohamed
