Corentyne welder found murdered in car

On Wednesday, the battered body of a Corentyne welder was discovered in his car along the Auchlyne Dam and one person has since confessed to murdering the man who he accused of having a relationship with his wife.

Dead is Joshua Hardatt also known as ‘Money’, 25, a welder of Lot 371 Bloomfield Village, Corentyne. The incident reportedly happened between 6 pm on Tuesday and 8 am on Wednesday.

Hardatt was found lying motionless face-down in a crouching position in the back passenger seat of his car along the Auchlyne cultivating dam. He bore marks of violence to the face, forehead and a wound to the back of the head.

Hardatt’s mother Lalita Hardatt yesterday told Stabroek News that on Tuesday after returning home from work, her son took a shower and ate after which he left home around 5.30 pm in his car, PAD 1612.

She said that her son told her that he would return home on Tuesday around 9 pm. However, after he did not return home at the intended time she became worried and informed other relatives who began searching for the man.

“Me a call am steady pon the phone and the phone turn off so me na see he get internet nothing, me a call, a call and then 11 (pm) one gal call me and ask where he deh and me seh he na deh home so she say how he got to do some drill work for she that she from Albion and that when he come me must tell am must call am.”

The emotional woman said she continued to call her son’s phone every 30 minutes throughout the evening but received no answer. “When me do hear, he boss man pon America call and say somebody kill am and them find the car, how me start holler, me pickney na trouble nobody, he a go and come he way straight.”

Meanwhile, according to a police source, two suspects were arrested in Region Three on Wednesday evening one of whom confessed to killing the young man who he accused of having a relationship with his wife.

According to the source, the suspect was recently released from prison.

Hardatt’s mother yesterday said that on Sunday evening her son told her that the said man had threatened to kill him. “He (Hardatt) tell me that the man say he go knock am with hammer and kill am”, the woman relayed as she began crying uncontrollably. 

Hardatt’s body is at the Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination as the police are continuing their investigation.
