Guinness’ Greatest of the Streets’ Linden Championship

A new champion will be crowned this evening in the Guinness’ Greatest of the Streets’ Linden Championship, as the semifinal section and resulting final will transpire at the Retrieve Hard- Court.

The semifinal segment will set the tone for the remainder of the evening as three emerging teams and one established unit battle for supremacy.

In the opening match, Hardball Management will lock horns with Turf Presidents at 19:00hrs. Hardball Management defeated Excuse the Rush in the quarterfinal segment via a 2-0 score. In similar fashion, Turf President dispatched Pro Ballers 3-0 at the same juncture.

A win for either team will ensure a first-time finalist will contest for the coveted title. Meanwhile, powerhouse and two-time winner Silver Bullets will take aim at the Spaniards in the second semifinal affair at 20:00hrs.

Silver Bullets path to the final four segment was much more difficult than their impending foe, as they were responsible for the elimination of fierce rival and three-time defending champion Swag Entertainment via a 1-0 score-line.

Expectations have only increased since that victory among the various pundits. However, standing in their path is the Spanish unit, whose 1-0 quarterfinal victory over a formidable YMCA side was certainly unexpected. They are now seen as a capable threat in denying Silver Bullets a place in the final. According to the organizers, “The anticipation can be felt through the respective communities. The fans have turned out in their numbers and have braved the elements, which have not been necessarily conducive to football and its viewing. The expectation is that an even larger crowd will play witness to this final, given that the possibility exists of the crowning of a first-time winner. Once again, there will be the usual giveaways for the loyal fans, along with the presence of the security apparatus that has been retained to ensure that the night’s proceedings run smoothly.”

The winner of the tournament will pocket $500,000 and the championship trophy. They will also receive an automatic berth to the national championship, which is slated to commence in August in Georgetown.

On the other hand, the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will walk away with $400,000, $300,000, and $250,000, respectively, and the corresponding accolade. Colours Boutique remains a sponsor of the tournament as they are the official kit provider for the entire season.
