Royals stop Ravens in grudge match

It was sweet revenge forthe Victory Royals when they defeated Dyna’s Ravens 56-54 last Thursday in Linden when the two clubs met in what was dubbed a grudge match at the McKenzie Sports Club hard Court.

The National Park was transformed in a ‘daggerin’ zone’ last Saturday when Jamaican Dancehall group RDX visited Guyana compliments of King Scorpion and Guinness promotions.

-Kanhai named MVP A vociferous crowd at the McKenzie Sports Club hard court in Linden yesterday hailed the McKenzie High School (MHS) as they blew away New Silver City Secondary School (NSSS) 50-36 to preserve their championship trophy in  the finals of the 5th Victory Valley Royals (VVR) Inter-school basketball tournament.

Suriname retain overall IGG first leg title

Suriname retained their Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) overall first leg title winning all but the athletics competition and amassing a  total of 38 points, while Guyana settled for second with 28 points and French Guiana once again finished at the bottom with 24 points.

Suriname takes Inter-Guiana swimming crown

Suriname comprehensively won the 2009 Inter Guiana Games overall swimming title while Guyana and French Guiana tied for second place as the championships culminated at the Castellani Pool in Georgetown yesterday.

Guyana dominate track and field

… on  Inter- GUiana Games opening day Guyana got off to a prolific start in track and field when the 42nd Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) kicked off yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary as  they left their rivals from French Guiana and Suriname trailing in  their wake.

Inter-Guiana Games 2009 opens today with athletics

After months of preparation the first leg of the 2009 Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) will commence today in Georgetown featuring male and female teams from French Guiana, Suriname and Guyana, competing at football, athletics and swimming.

Caribbean Table Tennis Championships

GTTA OK with team’s performance The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has said that the team that went to the Caribbean Cadet and Junior Table Tennis Championships in St Kitts last week  performed at their best and the body is pleased with the outcome although Puerto Rico dethroned Guyana to take the overall title.

Swimmers aiming for title with home pool advantage

After finishing a disappointing third place last year, Team Guyana under coach Christopher Mc Adam is aiming to use home pool advantage to its fullest as it prepares for this weekend’s Inter- Guiana Games (IGG) at the Castellani Pool.
