Global demand for tropical fruit growing

While Guyana, and the Caribbean as a whole, are yet to make a meaningful mark on the global market for tropical fruit, local fruit growers can take heart from the continually optimistic soundings of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) regarding a growing market for the world’s leading tropical fruit, much of which are produced locally.

Leading local companies to attend Rotary Job Fair

Several of the country’s leading private sector enterprises will participate in a one-day Job Fair organized by the Rotary Clubs of Georgetown and Demerara on Sunday March 3 in an initiative that seeks to respond to the challenge of scarce skills afflicting affecting the business community.

LUCAS STOCK INDEX   The LSI rose by 0.2 percent in the second week of trading in February 2012.  Only the stocks of Banks DIH and Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) traded this week and they both rose by nearly one percent.  As a result, the index recorded its edged up this week and reversed the declining trend of the last two weeks.
