Private sector head urges rethink and support for Amaila

Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Ron Webster yesterday called  on all stakeholders to rethink their positions on the Amaila hydro project and support it but it is unclear what the way forward could be as the prospective developer Sithe Global is sticking by its decision to pull out and the main opposition APNU remains against the venture in its current form.

Three bills sent for AG’s certification

Clerk of the National Assembly Sherlock Isaacs has confirmed that three of the five bills passed during last week’s sitting of the National Assembly were sent off to the Attorney General’s (AG’s) Chambers yesterday morning but said they had not yet been returned as he had hoped.

Over 200 dead after Egypt forces crush protest camps

CAIRO,  (Reuters) – Egyptian security forces crushed the protest camps of thousands of supporters of the deposed Islamist president today, shooting almost 200 of them dead in the bloodiest day in decades and polarising the Arab world’s most populous nation.
