Guyanese teen dies in NY accident

An overseas-based Guyanese teenager died in a horrific accident in New York yesterday morning while he was on his way home.

UG, GTT ink Mobile Money app pact

The University of Guyana (UG) and the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT), after launching Money Mobile Guyana (MMG) last month for students to make easy tuition payments, on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to solidify the deal.

(Reuters) – Martin Landau, a talented and prolific character actor who achieved TV stardom in “Mission: Imposs-ible” and won an Oscar for his portrayal of a washed-up Bela Lugosi in the sweetly bizarre 1994 film “Ed Wood,” has died at age 89.

Spanish envoys visit Ptolemy Reid Centre

Spain’s Ambassador to Guyana Javier Carbajosa and its Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Latin America Fernando Garcia Casas on Thursday night visited the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre, where they interacted with the children and were treated to a tour of the facility.

Pedestrian dies in Soesdyke accident

The Police say they are investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 03:00h this morning on the Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara, involving motor car PVV 1923 and pedestrian Chandrapaul Persaud, 47,of 53 Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.
