Dear Editor, In her recent, lengthy letter published in Stabroek News, Kaieteur News and the Guyana Chronicle, Minister of Education Priya Manickchand weighed in on the conflict of interest issue involving Audit Director Geetanjali Singh and her husband, Minister of Finance Ashni Singh.

Dear Editor, I have been living in Carmichael Street for the past 25 years.

Dear Editor, It is unusual for private individuals, including businesspersons to hold a common view on a matter that involves a police unit in their vicinity, and relate with horror their conclusion that a certain police action harked back to another era not too long ago.

Dear Editor, Our history did not happen in a vacuum. Neither is our history clothed in the simplistic good/bad binary.

Dear Editor, I would like to add my pen in response to two letters Minister Priya Manickchand has written in relation to the interpretation by the opposition AFC and APNU and the Chairman of Transparency Guyana,  Mr Anand Goolsarran, that the wife of the Minister of Finance is in a conflict of interest situation because of the position she holds at the Auditor-General’s Office.

Dear Editor, The National Community Policing Executive (NCPE) wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the Government of Guyana which, through the Ministry of Home Affairs recently provided the requisite tools and equipment valued at over $17M to fortify the operational capabilities in the various community policing group divisions.

Dear Editor, I am compelled to write after reading Priya Manickchand’s recent letter in defence of Ms Geetanjali Singh.

Dear Editor, I note the letter from Mr Shabnam Ally and Mr Raymond Chickrie in Stabroek News of October 16 captioned: ‘In 1896 Muslims petitioned the British Guiana Combined Court for permission to build a mosque and school in Queenstown.’

Dear Editor, As the latest Venezuelan humiliation unfolds, it reiterates just how lost and clueless the leaders of this nation are. 

Dear Editor, I thank Ms Minette Bacchus for the courtesy of reading my article of last Sunday and for responding to it (‘What did Jagan do during his presidency…’ SN, October 15).

Dear Editor, On Saturday October 12, 2013, the PPP/C held a rally at Damon Square, Anna Regina to celebrate its 21st  victory  anniversary.

Dear Editor, Anand Goolsarran and the AFC are calling for the removal of Geetanjali Singh from the Audit Office of Guyana.

Dear Editor, The National Front Alliance (NFA), strongly condemns the act of aggression perpetrated by the navy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela against the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

Dear Editor, The 31st President of the United States of America noted the paradox that every dictator climbs to power on the ladder of free speech, but on attaining that power proceeds to suppress all free speech except his own.

Dear Editor, We have been accustomed to the statement that the rich nations are becoming richer and the poor ones, poorer. 

Dear Editor, We need another habitat for our beloved manatees, which are considered endangered.

Dear Editor, I refer to a letter written by Ms Manickchand under the heading ‘The Geetanjali Singh issue is about women being able to work in the field of their choice’ appearing in the October 14 issue of the Stabroek News.

Dear Editor, One of the positive things that took place in Retrieve in the Linden community during the month of September, was two-days of Retrieve activities in celebration of when it came into being approximately 57-58 years ago – research is still being done to ascertain the exact date. 

Dear Editor, As Guyanese Muslims are getting ready to observe the celebrations of Eid Ul Azha, better known as ‘Bacra’ Eid or Qurbani, we take you back to the year 1896, a historical occasion for our brothers and sisters in Islam in Guyana today.

Dear Editor, I hear that a one-time apology for a leader on the campaign trail in Lusignan told listeners not to worry about the small things like potholes and garbage, but to focus on the big beneficial things done.
