Dear Editor, In an obvious attempt at grasping at straws, Roger Ally, in letter (SN, January 3) entitled ‘Boodram has unwittingly made the argument for modesty and decorum in dress‘ cites a quote of mine in a previous letter and infers a conclusion that is not only not supported by the quote but that was never even an intended thought.

Dear Editor, One may think that the case was well-made, as if one were necessary, for the location of a monument to commemorate the 1823 Demerara Slave Revolt in Independence Park, formerly Parade Ground.

Dear Editor, I refer to earlier letters written to the press on the Hope Project.

Dear Editor, Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee in his usual combative style, took the opportunity of his address to the leadership of the police force on December 31, to reply to some comments attributed to the Leader of the Opposition to which he took umbrage.

Dear Editor, Over the last few days, eight of our collection trucks have been out of service for repairs. 

Dear Editor, Kindly allow me too express my gratitude to the postal authorities for re-opening the Agricola Post Office and restoring the suspended services.

Dear Editor, In whatever critique I have to make of public figures in Guyana, I take pains to avoid any reference to any relative, even at times where said mention would be tangentially relevant to the point I am trying to make. 

Dear Editor, There is an old saying that where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise.

Dear Editor, My last daughter took me for a walk along the Georgetown seawall on New Year’s Day.

Dear Editor, In ‘Cabinet posts should be shared out between the PPP/C and APNU …‘  (SN Jan 1), Mr Walter B Alexander, without recognizing it, has pointed out what is wrong in Guyana’s politics and perhaps in all Third World countries – divvying government positions, which has been the gist of the problem in Guyana. 

Dear Editor, It took me a long time to write this letter because I have been, and still am, a great admirer of Carl Lewis.

Dear Editor, I should like to highlight two issues that were discussed at the last sitting of the Regional Democratic Council Meeting of December 14, 2012.

Dear Editor, I have read Mr Ramkarran’s column of December 2, 2012 captioned ‘The PPP and the challenges ahead,’ and must acknowledge his bravery in making so public and seemingly honest an assessment of the PPP’s attitude to the political realities of Guyana and his attempts to suggest and recommend a path forward for his party’s resurrection. 

Dear Editor, With reference to Mr Vishnu Bisram’s letter in Tuesday’s issue of this newspaper (‘Guyana should have a Christmas market’), I would like to confirm that a Christmas Fair has already been taking place in the Rupununi for the past three years.
