Dear Editor,
I am responding to the letter signed by Nicola Berkley for the Management GPOC, which was published in SN of Sept 22, captioned ‘GPOC treats as priority…’
I daresay that the Post Office has found itself in a crisis and may need to refocus and get back to the basics.
Dear Editor,
In the final NCN debate on institutional corruption broadcast recently, Senior Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh accused Mr Moses Nagamootoo of the AFC of “pretence,” “misrepresentation,” “opportunism” and “making false charges of corruption” against the PPP/C.
Dear Editor,
In the middle of the last century our colonial masters suspended our constitution and appointed an interim government to replace the one we elected.
Dear Editor,
Even though my first emotion should be anger whilst writing this letter, it is sad to say that it has turned to pity, pity for where our country is heading when it comes to infrastructure.
Dear Editor,
The purpose of this letter is to correct erroneous statements made in the article published in the Guyana Times on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
Dear Editor,
Reference is made to an article published in the September 25, 2012 edition of the Kaieteur News captioned ‘Three GRA Enforcement officials interdicted‘ in which that newspaper reported on information the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) dispersed to the media via a press release the previous day following the conclusion of preliminary investigations into bribery allegations made by a business person.
Dear Editor,
Mr Charles Sugrim was right that the audience, a packed room at the Marriott on Monday, was looking forward to a question and answer segment (‘Guyana could be transformed … ‘ SN, Sep 28) but because the programme was running late, I suppose it was not practical.
Dear Editor,
Yesterday (September 27), would have marked the deadline for local broadcasters to apply to renew their licences, under the Broadcast Act 2011.
Dear Editor,
I was very privileged to have had the opportunity to attend the launching of the Guyana government’s Guyana Diaspora Project at the Marriot in Manhattan, New York.
Dear Editor,
I witnessed corporal punishment more than physically experienced it, but it left me mentally scarred and traumatized through to adulthood.
Dear Editor,
I have to commend your columnist Shaun Michael Samaroo for his fine description of our disposition in relation to our present state of affairs at home in his column, ‘Why we migrate’ (SN, July 12).
Dear Editor,
Day after day, many of us read in the newspaper about the city and the garbage, and many of us walk around the city and ask ourselves, why is it so dirty?
Dear Editor,
Within recent times, the Public Relations Section of the council has been receiving numerous calls from citizens with questions about building operations in Georgetown.
Dear Editor,
In checking online for the recent whereabouts of English footballer Rio Ferdinand, I read that the former national player was dropped from the English squad over a year ago for what the coach publicly called “football reasons.”
Dear Editor,
As regards ‘The mystery of creative genius’ by Ian McDonald in Sunday Stabroek, September 23, 2012, although I admire Ian’s weekly column and much of his poetry, especially those included in an anthology of New Caribbean Poetry in the Spring 2003 issue of Poetry Wales, in which my work also appeared, I have a number of reservations about what he says in this specific essay.
Dear Editor,
GPL’s ‘Power Watch,’ published in the major newspapers in Guyana, is inaccurate, and quite frankly, a waste of resources. I reside at Number 68 Village on the Corentyne, and cannot recall the last time that actual power outages coincided with what was scheduled and advertised.
Dear Editor,
It is ironic that the street which borders GPL’s massive facility situated in Sophia (North) has been without light for the longest while, and consequently dangerously trafficked, certainly from the point of view of pedestrians.
