Dear Editor, Following the historic election in October 1992, today, Guyana’s media ranks among the freest in the world, where freedom of expression is guaranteed, with the private media, inclusive of Stabroek News, hosting some of the fiercest critics of the government in their daily columns.

Dear Editor, May I take this opportunity to ask President Donald Ramotar to remember that although the political opposition would like to replace the People‘s Progressive Party/Civic in government to pursue their own development agenda, they want what he wants.

Dear Editor, Recovery from the brutality and the psychological impact of 1492, slavery, indentureship, colonialism, falls within the domain of all Guyanese.

Dear Editor, We refer to an article in KN captioned ‘Govt has no obligation to transfer money to Consolidated Fund, says Brassington.‘ 

Dear Editor, The crackdown on illegal mining by the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), the police and other agencies is indeed most welcome.

Dear Editor, My late father, a lawyer, said to me a long time ago that parents are obligated to look after their children, but children do not have a similar obligation to look after their parents.

Dear Editor, The Alliance For Change is alarmed at the callous remarks of Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh that “jobs will go” as a result of the joint opposition’s scaling back of what must be recognized as a budget which initially included wasteful and questionable expenditure.

Dear Editor, The New Building Society (NBS) held its AGM recently which just under 200 persons attended, something which has been the norm for the past 5 decades.

Dear Editor, My initial reaction was to ignore statements by NCN, GINA, and Ministers Ganga Persaud, Norman Whittaker and Irfaan Ali dealing with the City of Georgetown.

Dear Editor, While it is never my intention to respond to every letter written about me or the entity I am responsible for, permit me to respond to Mr Alfred Bhulai, a well-known contributor to your letters column and a political activist, whose letter appeared in the May 3, 2012 edition of your news paper entitled ‘As Commissioner-General of the GRA Sattaur should not allow it to appear as if he is making or defending government policies.‘

Dear Editor, It was very disheartening to follow the budget debate.

Dear Editor, For the first time we learnt from page 17 of SN April 26, 2012, what the salary of a Regional Executive Officer was.

Dear Editor, I appeal to Mr K Juman Yassin, President of the Guyana Olympic Association and Mr Colin Boyce, President of the Athletics Association of Guyana, to go on record and prove that Mr Christopher Ram is totally wrong about sports administrations not producing financial reports.

Dear Editor, I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate our journalists and media workers on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.

Dear Editor, I read F Skinner’s letter in the Stabroek News on April 26 (‘The copyright laws need to be enforced…’ ) which stated that the enforcement of copyright laws was a prerequisite for cultural industries.
