Dear Editor, I respond to a reported statement by Ms Chandrapal that my age and lack of research were the reasons why my service at UG was terminated (SN, February 4).

Dear Editor, A week ago, I asked the CEO of Sithe Global some rather straightforward questions (‘Some questions for Bruce Wrobel‘ SN, January 29). 

Dear Editor, With reference to an article in Guyana Times dated February 1, wherein the President, Guyana Teachers’ Union, Mr Colin Bynoe stated that the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) “has chosen to do their own thing in terms of what the criteria should be without first consulting or meeting (GTU) formally,”  the Teaching Service Commission wishes to set the record straight.

Dear Editor, The declared costs of some infrastructure projects launched by the government are so high as to raise questions about its competence to handle this type of development.

Dear Editor, With respect to a recent article (‘Synthetic track stuck at phase one…‘ SN, Jan 27) on the progress – or lack thereof – in the construction of a Synthetic Track and Field Facility (Phase 1, Leonora Community Centre Ground) the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport offers you this brief response: Firstly, from the perspectives of both ministerial responsibility and proper journalistic protocol, the ministry is disturbed once again at the procedure used to sensationalize the issue of apparent sloth in terms of the progress of the construction project.

Dear Editor, I write in relation to the firing of Freddie Kissoon from the University of Guyana.

Dear Editor, I hope the PPP, AFC and APNU/PNC are listening to the people of Guyana who were disgusted with the performance of Gecom after the November 28, 2011 election.

Dear Editor, I note the letter: ‘Closing date in Teaching Service Commission ad was an error‘ in SN of Thursday, February 2, and I thank Mr P Kandhi, Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, for his thanks. 

Dear Editor, The situation at the Lusignan East Playground has reached a crisis because the access road around the playground has been damaged owing to the presence of the Courtney Benn Construction company.

Dear Editor, Over the past 15 years, members of the Guyana United Artists have promoted art exhibitions to develop Guyanese awareness of our history and appreciation for Guyana’s cultural diversity under the most difficult circumstances.

Dear Editor, I wish to thank notable Guyanese Mr Sasenarine Singh (no known relation) for adding his voice to the call for speedier trials for persons in prison in his letter, which appeared in the Stabroek News on January 31 (‘Persons should not languish for years in jail without a preliminary inquiry being held’).
