Dear Editor,
The United Nations Organisation – an international forum representative of most of the world’s peoples – has chosen to designate this year as ‘The Year of People of African Descent.’
Dear Editor,
I have been involved in cricket administration since February, 1983, when I was elected President of Malteenoes Sports Club.
Dear Editor,
There is much anticipation and interest by Guyanese, home and abroad, in the dawn of this new day.
Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter in your newspaper (‘Story and photo caption on website a misrepresentation,’ Jan 7) written by George Vyphuis and containing the following words: “They were present… but moved immediately when they observed Freddie Kissoon taking the photograph.”
Dear Editor,
Thanks for letting the public know that the Chairperson of the Guyana Elections Commission has been appointed Chairperson of the Guyana Livestock Authority and for commenting on the matter in your editorial.
Dear Editor,
Of late, PPP and PNC contenders for the presidency have dominated the news, but until and unless I see the backs of President Bharrat Jagdeo and PNC Leader, Mr Robert Corbin, as they exit the door of politics into retirement where recently approved generous retirement packages await both, I won’t place any bets yet.
Dear Editor,
I refer to Mr Justin McKenzie’s SN letter dated January 7, and captioned, ‘Why did GAIBANK never approach the government to make good foreign exchange losses?’
Dear Editor,
Informed sources wish to express appreciation of SN’s very instructive editorial of January 3, 2011 commenting on appointments to the reportedly established Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA).
Dear Editor,
I would like to say off the bat that it is well known that I have publicly came out in support of Cde Moses Nagamootoo to be Guyana’s next president. I
Dear Editor,
Recently I went to the Aurora Police Station to make a report of simple larceny allegedly committed by a worker of mine.
Dear Editor,As is traditional for many persons at this time of the new year, we tend to reflect on the past year – lessons learned, opportunities exploited and challenges faced, etc.
Dear Editor,
I wish to respond to a letter by C Kenrick Hunte, appearing in the Stabroek News and Kaieteur News of January 5 under the caption in SN, “Where is Minister Persaud’s evidence of GAIBANK mismanagement and misuse of funds?”
Dear Editor,
I don’t rightly know whose purview or authority this falls under, but I would like to draw to the attention of Mr Hamilton Green (M&CC) and Mr Robeson Benn (Minister of Public Works and Hydraulics) that Aubrey Barker Road from National Avenue in the west and Rosa Drive in the east is always inundated with water whenever the rain falls.
Dear Editor,
I have noted on the website http://www.guyanaobservernews.org/content/view/4327/94/ a story under the caption ‘Senior cop, Vyphus wants Jagdeo to stop directing the Police Force.’
Dear Editor,
Mr Ramkarran claims I lack comprehension (The Central Committee is the only body authorized in the PPP to decide on the presidential candidate, SN, December 24, 2010).
Dear Editor,
Dr Jeffrey’s letter in SN of January 1 is excellent PR for candidate Ralph Ramkarran, but it is sorely lacking.
Dear Editor,
I have noticed that in the media and in your publication that the Caricom has fired Mr Carl Greenidge at the insistence of the Government of Guyana.
Dear Editor,
Had it not been for the wise and constructive statements from Mark Benschop on Plain Talk with Christopher Ram on January 2, I could have sworn that Mayor Hamilton Green’s weak responses belonged in those comical satirical pieces put together by the producers of Stretched Out Magazine or Prime News Not Necessarily The News.
Dear Editor,
The new protest twins seem to be bound together in all ways.
Dear Editor,
In what appears to be a forced awakening, an election year publicity stunt or a cheap gimmick, Minister Manzoor Nadir chooses to now publicly admit what the Guyana Bauxite & General Workers Union (GB&GWU), enlightened Guyanese and all trade unionists worth their stripes knew all along, that “The Guyana Bauxite and General Workers Union is the certified bargaining agent for a large section of [BCGI] workforce and [the company is] legally bound to treat with them.”
