Dear Editor, About three weeks or so ago, on October 25, Stabroek News quoted the President as saying “I don’t see any need, at this point in time, to revise it [VAT rate]… We don’t think VAT is a burden because of what it replaced.”

Dear Editor, Is Guyana a better place than it was in 1980? 

Dear Editor, Several official statements as well as information in the media with respect to the identity of the Champion of Champions at the 2009 National Track, Field, Swimming, Cycling and Teachers’ Championships have prompted this letter.

Dear Editor, I refer to the recent case where a medical doctor practising in Guyana’s largest and busiest hospital had been earlier convicted of sexually abusing a child.

Dear Editor, I was shocked to learn of the sudden illness of one of Guyana’s finest sons, my dear friend, Winston Murray.

Dear Editor, Journalists should be allowed the absolute freedom to ply their trade even when working in a state controlled media agency. 

Dear Editor, It is with deep sadness that I received news that Mr Winston Murray, MP is hospitalised at the Georgetown Hospital after a sudden fall.

Dear Editor, On November 7, 2010 on Channel 7, Eye on the Issues had as its guest Mr Peter Ramsaroop. 

Dear Editor, The government can spend $40 million on a race track, but can’t spend $10 million on old age pensioners.

Dear Editor, These days as we prepare to embrace Christmas, happiness is predicated upon consumption and the only virtuous activity is material enrichment.

Dear Editor, With this belated reply I am fortunately able to answer both Jorge Bowen-Forbes’ first letter (Guyana Chronicle October 22), and his second (‘An enjoyable show with confusing results’ Stabroek News November 6), re “a recently judged competition” at the National Gallery – this being our 8th Biennial National Drawing Competition – his recent effort containing even more outrageous inaccuracies of ‘fact’ than the first.

Dear Editor, On reading your news story, ‘Fraudulent Gecom $25M contract creates uproar at PAC,’ (November 10), I couldn’t help getting the impression that there may be a concerted effort to push back the 2011 elections. 

Dear Editor, I wish to reply to a notice published in the Stabroek News (November 8) and Kaieteur News sent by the Guyana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA).

Dear Editor, I would like to respond to some points made in a letter by M Maxwell published in SN under the title ‘Both the PNC and PPP belong in the same boat’ (November 11).
