Dear Editor, I watched on television the official opening of the new state-of-the-art Linden Hospital Complex, which was attended by the President, Prime Minister, ministers of the government, other government officials and foreign representatives, among others, and as expected Linden top functionaries, officers and other invitees.

Dear Editor,The Guyana Police Force is responding to an article published in the Stabroek News of Wednesday, December 09, 2009, under the caption `Woman attempted suicide after police did not respond to rape report’.

Dear Editor, I refer to SN’s article (10.12.09) captioned, ‘Chandarpal no longer presidential advisor’ to offer a few comments.

Dear Editor, In the ‘good old days’ one was put on probation for a period of three months, after which you were either confirmed on the job or you were dismissed.

Dear Editor, I refer to the pricing arguments developed by Mr Rajendra Rampersaud in the Stabroek News of November 26, in response to the concerns about the future of the Guyana sugar industry by Tarron Khemraj.

Dear Editor, It has been one week since the BBC aired its ‘Hardtalk’ programme on Thursday, December 3, when President Bharrat Jagdeo was interviewed by Ms Zeinab Badawi in his capacity as Chairman of Caricom.

Dear Editor, From a distance I have followed the struggle for decent wages and improved working conditions of bauxite workers.

Dear Editor, I am totally confused; I saw an advertisement on November 22, 2009 in the Kaieteur News informing the public that, among other things, the old age pension book distribution will continue until December 18, 2009.

Dear Editor, For those who read the notice from NIS in Sunday Stabroek of December 6,  indicating its intention of terminating its drug distribution programme to pensioners from December 31, ’09 it might not have had any impact on or made sense to the readers unless you happened to be a beneficiary.

Dear Editor, It amazes me that the Guyana Elections Commission (Gecom), after vigorously arguing and defending the position for a new national identification card, would have allowed an entire process to be completed without using the appropriate quality control protocols to ensure value for money was achieved.

Dear Editor, The newly installed Chancellor of the University of Guyana, in speaking at the recent dinner hosted by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was reported to have invited the private sector to contribute (substantially) more to education, and the University of Guyana in particular, which provided a good proportion of the skills and competencies the sector utilises.

Dear Editor, Sometimes you become gullible when you least know it and your gullibility leads to you becoming vulnerable.

Dear Editor, I read in your Monday issue (December 7) that the Guyana Football Federation is set to ban football club Riddim Squad from this year’s Kashif and Shanghai competition.
