Dear Editor, Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee Chairman, Mr Irfaan Ali and his colleague Mr Juan Edghill were very disrespectful towards the CEO of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), Mr Allan Johnson, who appeared before them on Monday to answer questions pertaining to the GPHC financial audit for the year 2015-16.

Dear Editor, It continues to irritate me when I read stories like the one relating to an SUV which is allegedly using a false number plate and is able to get away with it because the owner is a powerful government contractor.

Dear Editor, I refer to a letter carried in your newspaper, ‘Plantain chip factory at Leguan not feasible’ (May 28), in which the writer Charles Sohan predicts that the factory will be another “white elephant” and concludes that the project “has been born in the chequered development annals of the present Administration…” I wish to inform the public, in particular Mr Sohan, that this project actually began in 2014 and was conceived under the previous administration.

Dear Editor, Amerindians mining for their daily subsistence in Chenapau and the surrounding area is nothing new.

Dear Editor, With regard to the photograph of Minister of Public Health alongside the Mayor of Georgetown cutting the ribbon to reopen the Albouystown Health Centre in today’s edition, I am struck to ask whether it would not have been more prudent, more appropriate, more apt to have had the councillor representative of Albouystown do the honours?

Dear Editor, I refer to the article titled, ‘ICE arrests illegal Guyanese man in NY’ (SN, May 31). 

Dear Editor, The dust from the destruction wrought in Manchester on May 22 by Salman Abedi, described by British media as a “radicalised Muslim”, and his accomplices has not yet settled, and now we have the news of yet another suicide bombing in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Dear Editor, I extend warm greetings and best wishes to our Guyanese children, here and in the diaspora.

Dear Editor, Later today, a small percentage of the country’s lawyers will assemble in the High Court for the annual general meeting of the Guyana Bar Association whose membership excludes lawyers employed by the State.

Dear Editor, We, the former heads of state and government who have signed declarations of the Democratic Initiative of Spain and the Americas (IDEA-Democrática), respectfully address the Honourable Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organiza-tion of American States, in order to express publicly our concern regarding the breach of constitutional and democratic order, as well as the systematic and generalised violation of human rights that is currently taking place in Venezuela under the government of Nicolás Maduro and its armed forces.

Dear Editor, The nation would recall that on May 9, 2017, a Kaieteur News headline stated, ‘Over 200 persons blacklisted from leaving Guyana -SOCU.’

Dear Editor, Since 2015, the framers of the National Mental Health Action Plan (NMHAP) 2015-20  have been talking about shifting towards a community- based mental health care model instead of institutionalised care.

Dear Editor, My recent letter about servant leadership in Guyana and the need to find a win-win solution for Guyanese taxpayers and GuySuCo was turned into a magnificent masquerade by a letter written by the bosses of GAWU.

Dear Editor, Guyana’s has a proud football history; ask any of the old players and members for Pele, Santos, Camptown, etc, and they will all tell you how proud and excited they were to play and be a part of football. 

Dear Editor, Henry Jeffrey is entirely correct when he notes that the building of social cohesion in Guyana requires the “the establishment of the appropriate consensus-building governance mechanisms” and, further, without changing the course of governance in Guyana, the policy recommendations in the Draft Strategic Plan for Social Cohesion in Guyana, 2017-2021 would be “mere platitudes” (‘The strategic plan for social cohesion’, SN May 24, 2017).

Dear Editor, The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) refers to Mr Eric Phillips’ letter ‘All voices of reason must step forward on GuySuCo,’ which appeared in the May 29 Stabroek News.

Dear Editor, I had to pass a specific place several times before an epiphany came.
