Dear Editor,
Regarding your news report ‘Thai Opposition Party to boycott election’ (SN, Dec 22), it is clear from analyses of Thai politics that elections are unlikely to be held in February, and I would be surprised if the armed forces don’t take over the government very soon with the blessing of the monarchy, as usually happens when the interests of the wealthy are threatened.
Dear Editor,
Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon’s recent letter published in SN on December 25 captioned ‘The Government of Guyana was not consulted on the USAID project’ reflects the kind of sentiments Guyanese feel when Luncheon’s PPP/C government abuses its power.
Once you understand the ebb and flow in the fortunes of Guyana’s public servants in their unending quest for better wages and, by extension, a higher standard of living, the paucity of the turnout for the December 20 protest march would have been entirely unsurprising.
Dear Editor,
It recently came to my attention that comments were made about the 2013 National Drama Festival in an editorial comment by Jairo Rodrigues published in ‘The Scene,’ a Stabroek News Saturday supplement.
Dear Editor,

Dear Editor,
It was with shock and horror that I learnt of Winston Jeeboo’s death on Saturday morning, shock because he was dead and horror at the manner in which he met his death.
Dear Editor,
One concern of the Guyanese public and a major impediment to real progress is the huge gap between the ideals to which our leaders pay lip service overseas and their contrasting actions at home.
Dear Editor,
The statements made by ministers and the General Secretary of the PPP in relation to the Georgetown City Council are clearly unworthy of these high offices.
