Dear Editor, My heart bleeds every time I pass by the Parliament Building which sits amidst the most foul-smelling part of the City of Georgetown.

Dear Editor, The trash and filthy drain around Guyana’s Parliament epitomizes the state of Georgetown, and one can safely say Guyana – a nation plagued by corruption at all levels, with a bureaucracy that makes the nation crawl, and a political system that totally centralizes power in a country that still awaits the implementation of local elections.

Dear Editor, Permit me to respond to a letter published by the Stabroek News on September 4, 2012, and written by Cindy Sookdeo, in respect of statements I made in the recently aired in the NCN debate series in respect of former President Bharrat Jagdeo‘s pensions (‘The evidence shows that former President Jagdeo got preferential treatment for Pradoville II land’).

Dear Editor, What kind of a country do we live in when the body of a dead donkey lies on the side of a major roadway in Guyana and it is left to the stray dogs to dispose of the carcass?

Dear Editor, I am not a fanatical churchgoer, but I believe in miracles.

Dear Editor, In his speech to the Democratic Convention Wednesday night, former President Bill Clinton made the best case so far why President Barack Obama should be re-elected – more compelling than Clint Eastwood did for Romney at the Republican Convention.

Dear Editor, President Ramotar was quoted on Demerara Waves as saying that “efforts to upset the smooth running of Guyana would not be tolerated.”

Following the massive success of the Games of the 30th Olympiad, the London 2012 Paralympics have been unfolding to rave reviews and dramatically changed perceptions of the disabled in the United Kingdom and those parts of the world fortunate enough to receive some television coverage of the event.

Dear Editor, Perhaps Wild Coast author John Gimlette’s bewilderment at Major-General Singh’s criticism may lie in the gross misunderstandings created by statements such as “It’s true too that I acknowledged him as the commanding officer in two operations that were – from a military point of view – deemed successful.

Dear Editor, Soon after Dr David Hinds of the WPA announced to the media that he and his family were experiencing harassment, the Office of the President, without time for investigation, was able to “dismiss” his claims.

Dear Editor, NCN is holding a lop-sided four on one debate on corruption at big spending items like Marriot, Amaila, Cheddi Jagan International Airport and Pradoville 2.

Dear Editor, I must congratulate the Bartica IMC on doing a fine job.

Dear Editor, I wish to support the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs in disputing allegations by Region 7 Toshaos.

Dear Editor, I would like to publicly congratulate Dr Bhoj and her staff at the Diabetic Foot Clinic of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Dear Editor, Saraswati Vidya Niketan (SVN) 2012 CSEC results have once again made us all proud as supporters of this unique Hindu secondary school, which welcomes teachers and students from other religious persuasions.

Dear Editor, In his response ‘An Obama defeat cannot be ruled out but is highly unlikely’ (SN, Sep 2) to my letter (SN, Aug 31), Mr Wesley Kirton queried firstly, where did I get my information from, suggesting that an overwhelming majority of Guyanese and Caribbean people are Democrats and that not many watched the Republican convention; and secondly, on what basis I made the claim that Guyanese-Americans (and others) were disappointed with Obama’s education policies.

Dear Editor, Whenever I read or hear one of these high profile world leaders speak of justice I laugh.
