Twelve years for killing fellow youth

A youth who killed another in February, 2005 following an argument was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment last week when his case was called in the High Court.

Immediately after his matter came up for trial before Justice Rishi Persaud, murder accused Keron Lord pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

Lord, 19 years, was indicted for the February 28, 2005 murder of Macgiver Pierre, 17, in front of Survival supermarket. At the time of the incident, Lord was 17 years.

According to the prosecution, the two quarrelled then a fight broke out between them. Pierre ran but Lord chased after him. When he caught up with Pierre, Lord stabbed him a few times and then fled the scene. Pierre died in hospital the following day.
