Cyclist dies after collision with police bus

A 29-year-old man died after the bicycle that he was riding collided with a police vehicle driven by a constable at ‘C’ Field Sophia on Saturday evening.

Dead is Gregory Jordan. His brother Kenrick Jordan, whom he was towing at the time suffered minor injuries and was treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and sent away.

According to a police press release, investigations revealed that a Guyana Police Force vehicle driven by a constable was proceeding north on the western side of the roadway while Gregory was towing Kenrick on a bicycle on the same western side proceeding in the opposite direction. “There was a collision resulting in the two brothers receiving injuries”, police said.

They were taken to the GPH where Gregory died and Kenrick was treated and sent away. Hospital sources told Stabroek News that Gregory had sustained injuries to his head and other parts of the body and died some two hours after the accident.
