Bandits rob bus passengers at Adventure

Two bandits, one of whom was armed with a gun robbed a bus driver and passengers of money, jewellery and cellular phones and then shot and punctured one of the mini-bus’s wheels before escaping on the Adventure Public Road, Corentyne on Saturday.

Police, in a press release said that the robbery occurred at about 1 pm on Saturday and was executed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Investigations revealed that the two bandits had joined the bus which was en route to Black Bush Polder. As the vehicle reached Adventure the man with the firearm held the driver Jagnarine Seecharran at gunpoint and forced him to stop the vehicle. Seecharran, the conductor and passengers were then robbed of cash, jewellery and cell phones after which the bandits shot at and punctured one of the wheels of the minibus and then escaped on foot, the police said.

Investigations are ongoing.
