Time to close ranks not play politics

Dear Editor,

The massacre at Lusignan has left many Diaspora Guyanese at a loss for words to express their horror. Our hearts go out to the families and relatives of the victims. May God give them strength and courage to carry on and to find hope in this, their time of deepest despair.

On a personal note I sincerely hope that right thinking Guyanese will see this unspeakable act for what it is, the manifest actions of bestial beings, and not make the rash judgement of ethnic finger pointing. By the same token I also hope that all and sundry will not only forcefully condemn the perpetrators of this massacre, but also that those who, for whatever misguided rationale, may have been providing succor, shelter or other support to said perpetrators will now realise that they cannot justifiably continue to do so no matter what ties may bind them them to the perpetrators.

Finally, we sincerely hope and pray that the movers and shakers in society will close ranks, rather than play politics, to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice so that no one else would fall victims to their bestiality.

Yours faithfully,

Annan Boodram
