Semi-finalists decided in RHTYSC/Kool Kidz tournament

The semi-finalists of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) organized 2009 Kool Kidz Inter Secondary Schools 20/20 competition have been decided following the completion of the final preliminary round of matches last Friday.

J. C. Chandisingh, Berbice High School, Tagore Memorial and Port Mourant Secondary Schools (PMSS) are through to the final four following victories over Winifred Gaskin, New Amsterdam Multilateral, Skeldon and Canje Secondary Schools respectively.

At the Port Mourant ground, J.C Chandisingh got past Winifred Gaskin by nine wickets in a one sided affair.
Batting first, Winifred Gaskin were bowled out for 50 from 14.5 overs with Kevin Hardat, 25, the top scorer.
Shameer Shailendra, 3-6, Lloyd Lewis, 2-8 and Arif Chan, 2-9 were the main wicket takers.
J. C Chandisingh scored 54-1 from nine overs in reply with Kandasammy Surujnarine scoring 22 and Karamchand Mahadai 20.

At the Area ‘H’ ground, PMSS defeated Canje Secondary by 21 runs.
PMSS scored 104-4 from 20 overs with Sharaz Ramcharran and Collis Cort scoring 42 and 30 not out respectively.

Nial Smith took 2-20 for Canje secondary, who were held to 83-7 in reply.
Totaram Sooknanan, 21 and Damion Barry, 20 were the principal scorers while Jamal Brusche picked up 2-7 and Clifford Wong 2-15.

At the Berbice High School (BHS) ground, BHS batting first scored 159-7 from their 20 overs with Balram Balkissoon, 53, Lancelot Benn, 34 and Richard Davman, 26 the top scorers.

In reply New Amsterdam Multilateral School reached 132-9 with Judason Benn, 4-36, R. Duggins, 3-24 and Balkissoon, 2-25, the major wicket takers.

Suresh Dhanriam top scored with 33 while and Steve Dhani chipped in with 16 for New Amsterdam Multilateral.

At the Tagore Secondary School ground, the home team took care of Skeldon High by five wickets in their fixture.

Skeldon batted first and were bowled out for 70 from 15 overs with Navin Mohan scoring 19.
Ravi Persaud bagged 3-16 and Suresh Pomesh 3-18 for Tagore who reached 72-5 in reply from 13.5 overs.
Persaud returned to make 21 whilst Nicholas Ceres took 2-7.

The semifinals will be played on Friday with JCCSS facing Tagore Memorial at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground, whilst BHS will travel to the Area ‘H’ ground where they will face PMSS in their match.
