Everest makes light work of GCC

-three games called off in GCA under-19 tourney

After early morning showers washed out play in  three of the four scheduled matches of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) 50-over tournament that began yesterday, Everest Cricket Club made easy work of Georgetown Cricket Club at the Everest ground in the Yhann’s Engineering sponsored competition.

After the match was reduced to 23 overs, Everest, who won the toss, bowled out GCC for 71 in 21.3 overs. National youth spinner Amir Khan cleaned up with 4-12 (5) while  Alex Romalho and Raphael Singh were the main scorers with 19 and 14 respectively.

Khan was supported by Dayanand Roopnarine (3-7) and Christopher Surat (2-17) who also had miserly figures from their 3.3 and five overs respectively.

In reply Everest openers Mohan Ramdeen (11) and Ryan Rajmangal (19) were the highest scorers as Singh returned with the ball to strike 3-11. Everest lost six wickets as they reached 72-6 in 19 overs. Ramdeen, however, was run out attempting a suicidal run after he stroked a ball to midwicket.

Third Class against Ace Warriors at GCC and Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) going against Malteenoes Sports Club at the Thomas Lands facility.
