Abuse of the sewerage system and how it affects the city will be the highlight of a television programme by the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) tomorrow.

According to the GWI, the programme, a special episode of its ‘Customer Alert’ television series, highlights the abuse of the Georgetown Sewerage System by users. It will illustrate how illegal dumping into the system results in overflows, as well as inconvenience and suffering experienced by residents of Georgetown who endure sewerage overflows as a result of this abuse.

GWI said it has repeatedly called for residents of Georgetown to desist from dumping garbage and other harmful materials into sewer chambers.
The programme will also advocate the use of grease-traps by the local food industry to avoid further damage to the system.

The special edition of GWI’s Customer Alert will air tomorrow at 20:15 hrs (8:15 pm) on NCN.
