Parbattie Joseph and her son Gavindra, who were missing for a week, have returned home and the woman has since said they were “by a friend.”
On August 27, the pair had left Joseph’s mother’s house at La Grange, where they had spent two weeks, to head back to their Hibernia Village home on the Essequibo Coast. However, they had not been heard from until Thursday, when they returned to the La Grange address.
Joseph’s husband of six years, Preamindra Sattie yesterday said that he heard that his wife had called her mother but he was not sure if she returned home. Joseph’s mother, Seeta Seegobin, however, said that her daughter and grandchild returned home on Thursday. Seegobin said that her daughter told her that she was spending time by a friend. Seegobin added that her daughter, 23, also said that she did not call anyone because “she frighten if she call me, me gon row with she ’cause she left to go home and gone pon she own.”
Sattie had said that Joseph travelled to the city to be treated for a heart condition. Joseph has to make the trip every two months and would usually spend time at her mother’s house. He did not hear from his wife and her mobile phone went directly to voicemail when he tried to call her.
He subsequently filed a missing person’s report at the La Grange Police Station and the Welfare Office at Anna Regina had also shown an interest in the case.
