National netball team get Giftland’s sponsorship

The national netball team yesterday received a timely cash donation from Giftland’s Office Max as they attempt to raise over two million dollars to ensure their participation in an international commercial tournament in Barbados this weekend.

The team will participate in several matches against the host country, Jamaica and Antigua and Barbuda as they prepare for later engagements in the 2011 American Federation of Netball Association Tournament.

Giftland’s Marketing Officer, Compton Babb, yesterday expressed his company’s commitment to sports in Guyana and urged other businesses to follow suit.

Bobb said he was optimistic of the team’s success and urged them to make the company and Guyana proud.

National netball player Tomella Lowenfield receives the sponsorship cheque from Giftland Office Max’s Compton Babb.

Receiving the sponsorship on behalf of the national netball team was Defence Goalkeeper Tomella Lowenfield who expressed the team’s and the netball association’s gratitude to the company.

The team departs Saturday and will go into action the same day. They will play six matches before returning on September 19.
