Fourteen Region 5 roads for rehab

Fourteen roads and other infrastructure in Region Five are to be refurbished to the tune of $131M, according to a release yesterday from the Government Information Agency.

The relevant contracts were signed for the Community Road Improvement Project (CRIP) yesterday at the Rosignol Market. The contract was won by B&J Civil works.

GINA said that the project will see 14 roads being rehabilitated, asphalted and marked, the repair of a culvert and the total revamping of the drainage and irrigation system between Rosignol and Zeelust.

The event was attended by Housing and Water Minister, Irfaan Ali; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Govern-ment and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall; CRIP Project Coordinator, Karen Roopchand; Neighbourhood Democratic Council chairman, Shameer Ally and Regional Democratic Council Chairman, Harrinarine Baldeo among others.

Dharamlall was quoted in the release as urging residents to play an active part in the development of their community.
