Ram also went on to acknowledge that there are more sponsors for tennis than there are tournaments adding that…. “the role of the GTA is to administer the sport of tennis.”

Ram also outlined future plans of the GTA to introduce tennis into Essequibo and closed by congratulating all the participants of the tournament and invited the Sales Manager of MACORP, Linden Bentick to make some remarks.

“MACORP has been here since 1994 and we are here to stay and we will look to make this an annual event and once we can do sponsorship we will.

“I would like to congratulate all the winners and hope as you go on to other tournaments you will use the same enthusiasm and drive that you have shown during the MACORP tournament  to come out as future winners,” Bentick added.

The evening concluded with the presentation of trophies and a MACORP token to the winners and runners-up while Carlos Adams on receipt of his runner-up Over 35 Doubles trophy dedicated it to the memory of “an outstanding member of the tennis fraternity,” the late David Persaud aka “Skipper.”
