The Macorp Open Tennis Tournament continues today at Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel Tennis Courts from 18:00hrs.
The tournament which began on April 8 saw only two victors to date with the boys 18 and under being won by Gavin Lewis who defeated Seanden David-Longe (6-4, 6-4) while Shawna Gentle defeated Aruna Ramrattan in what was deemed as a super tie breaker match (6-1, 6-7, 7-4, 10-3). The return of veteran player Rudy Grant caused some excitement in the tournament when he advanced to the over-35 singles to face Andre Lopes who is also the tournament director. That match will take place in the coming week due to Grant currently being in Barbados, according to Lopes.
However, the women’s final will be played tomorrow, generating the same match-up from the under-18 female finals.
Meanwhile the men’s doubles quarter-finals were played last night featuring the men’s single top seed player, Jermey Miller along with Jason Andrews, but up to press time results were not in for the matches.
