Sophia woman critical after stabbed during fight

A 22-year-old, ‘C’ Field Sophia, woman is now in a critical condition at the Georgetown Hospital after she was stabbed to the left side abdomen during a fight last evening.

Injured is Anneta George, who was receiving medical attention up to press time. George also sustained injuries to the face as a result the attack.

The woman’s sister told this newspaper that she and her sister, who was holding a child, were coming from the shop in Sophia when the incident occurred. She stated that they were passing a group of girls, who they knew and had a previous confrontation with, when one of the girls came from behind and lashed her sister. Her sister then tried to push off her attacker and a fight began between the parties.

She said she somehow managed to grab the child from her sister’s arms as the girl continued to hit her sister.

The duo then ended up in a nearby trench during which the girl continued hitting at George, particularly in her face, causing it to burst. George’s sister said she tried to part the duo but she was also attacked by the other girls who joined in the fight.
She added that a male relative of her sister’s attacker then came with a pair of scissors which he gave to his relative. And as the duo continued to fight her sister was stabbed. “I just see me sister wash away in blood. I could not even pass to take her to the taxi because they seh how we can’t pass there,” she said.

The police are investigating the matter.
