National team seek revenge against DCC Jammers

The Guyana National team will be seeking revenge tonight when they come up against the Washington DC Jammers basketball team one last time in a rematch which is expected to be very competitive as the National Community Basketball League (NCBL) International All-Star weekend comes to its climax at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

After falling to the DC Jammers last Saturday by just three points in the first All-star match-up against the Washington based team, the bitter distaste of a close defeat still lingers for the Guyanese nationals.

They will have a shot at redemption tonight after the Jammers agreed to a rematch.

Like the first game, the locals will have to rely on their speed and accurate shooting to pull off an upset.

Guyana will definitely need Ryan Guillen to provide his hot shooting as he did in the first game while relying on the creativity and speed of Travis Burnett along with the all-around game of the captain Akeem ‘The Dream’ Kanhai if they are to win.

Stephon Gillis and Rodwell Fortune will be depended on to inject instant scoring when the game gets underway while the Jammers will look to use their superior size and shot blocking ability to stifle the offense of the Guyanese nationals along with using their smooth mid-rang game to get their offense going.

The Jammers will be depending on Glen Stokes and Joseph Flegler to initiate their team’s offense while Steffon Farley will be depended on to bring his athleticism to the game.

The game should definitely be a battle to the end with Guyana hoping to even the series and the Jammers to hold onto their superiority.
