Brooklyn Bulldogs bitten a third time

By Treiston Joseph

It was not to be third time lucky for the Brooklyn Bulldogs who went under without a whimper 60-84 to the Washington DC jammers basketball team at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Monday night.

It was the third defeat in as many games for the Bulldogs and they were a disappointed bunch of players after yet another lopsided defeat as the

International All-Star weekend of the National Community Basketball League (NCBL) continued.

The Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders, looking like a team rejuvenated and they seemed destined not to be blown away for a third consecutive game stayed closely behind  the DC Jammers team with excellent shooting from mid-range.

However, the hot-shooters quickly cooled down in the second half as the size of the DC Jammers proved too much for the overseas-based Guyanese on the Bulldogs team.

Turnovers were a major torn in the side for the Bulldogs as they lost the ball repeatedly which initiated a number of fast break points for the Jammers one in particular that saw Gordon Klaibor throwing down a heavy two-handed dunk while swinging on the rim for emphasis.

The Bulldogs simply fell apart in the second half as they were unable to penetrate the defence of the Jammers especially after going cold.

Keron Mackenzie scored 16 points for the Jammers. He scored with excellent efficiency finishing most of his shots at the rim while his teammate Glen Stokes was once again a threat from beyond the arc as he recorded 14 points in the game.

Kurwin Blades also produced a 16-point performance for the Bulldogs in the losing effort while Warren Butts added 14.

Meanwhile the three point shoot out competition was not contested as promised and no reason was given by the organizers as to why that aspect of the competition did not materlise.
